“When we started Wooster Glass, we had a truck, a toolbox and our overalls,” founder Ralph Jones would humbly say. The company he launched has grown since 1947 to the point where its talented staff handles jobs small to large and everything in between. You might think the business at 419 S. Market St. in Wooster does automotive glass and mirrors, while it does, the trained glaziers do so much more. See for yourself:
From small, custom jobs …
Well, when it comes to glass, pretty much every job is a custom job. But our glaziers can cut small panes of glass to repair older residential windows; they can cut mirrors into any kind of shape to fix that heirloom handheld mirror you received from your grandmother; and other glass and mirror work.
To automotive glass …
Wooster Glass stocks hundreds of windshields in the warehouse space in our shop at 419 S. Market St. in downtown Wooster. Because we have so many in stock, chances are you will not have to wait very long to have your windshield replaced. If your windshield has a chip in it, the staff can look at it and see if it will only require a repair instead of a full replacement.
Our customers are happy to discover that we work with all the insurance companies. So, if you want Wooster Glass to do the work for you, then just tell the claims service representative you want us to do the work. It is that easy. Choose your local glass company. We can send a crew to you, or you can have it done in our shop. Keep in mind, if we are scheduled to come to you, if it is raining, too hot or too cold, we might have to reschedule the appointment. We have to make sure the conditions are right so there is no problem with replacing or repairing the windshield.
To residential glass …
At Wooster Glass, we typically do not do new home windows, but our crews do repair those windows. And, if you have a historic home, we can manufacture a window that will match the others.
However, residential glass takes on many forms other than the typical home window. Because the housing market has been pretty tight, people have been remodeling their existing homes. We have been doing a lot of work with mirrors and shower doors. All-glass showers have become incredibly popular, and we can do the work for you.
Workers can even fix and repair screens so you can open your windows or sit in your screened-in room and feel a cool breeze without worrying about bugs bothering you. Wooster Glass workers have installed a number of screened-in porches, Vice President Pat Neyhart said. “We can do a screened in porch a number of different ways. We can make the screens, or we can roll and snap screens in.”
To specialty display cases and wine rooms …
When the Wayne County Historical Society needed special display cases to hold some of the items in their collections, its leaders turned to Wooster Glass. We created a number of display cases in different sizes.
We have also had some unique requests, like creating a wine room in home. We have made cases for meat markets, bakeries and other establishments. Our glaziers have years of experience, and can tackle a wide range of projects.
To storefronts and aluminum doors …
Our fabrication shop stays busy with a variety of commercial glass projects, like storefronts and aluminum doors. We are a licensed Tubelite aluminum door fabricator. You can read more about our fabrication shop by clicking here.
To large custom and commercial jobs
The work Wooster Glass does spans from small to large projects, but they all have one thing income: Details. Whether is designing how 1,000-pound munions that have internal steel reinforcing to hold 400-pound lites of glass, or working out the details of curtain walls, our experienced staff takes care of the finer points to make sure each job is done right.
Some big jobs we have worked on recently include the Ruth W. Williams Hall of Life Science, which recently opened; Motorcars Volvo in Bedford; safety glass at the Wooster Safety Services Building; and several projects at the Wooster Community Hospital to name just some.
